So awesome to see more clubs opening up in New York. Behrouz posted on his Facebook page that he will be playing this Saturday at the grand opening of WIP in lower Manhattan. The club is part of the old Shelter space on Varick St. which three years ago was turned into hotspot Greenhouse (I guess it’s a hot spot if you’re into the bottle service stuff). The club is actually a separate part of the building though which allows for both clubs to have their parties at the same time. From what we were told in an email, the party is absolutely focused on the music and not on how deep your pockets are, so we hope that the club promoters and owners stay true to their words. What this club has going for it that most don’t is that it is on a busy street on the edge of Tribeca that is a block in any direction from residential buildings. Below is a picture of the main dancefloor:
Timmy Regisford had his pre-opening Shelter party last weekend with guest Junior Vasquez playing in the other (there is a third) room in the club, and the responses we heard were favorable. The usual pre-opening jitters and mishaps, but nothing too out of sorts. We’re still searching around to see who did the sound yet so no word on that. Sure to be a great party if you’re in New York this weekend so check it out if you don’t have plans. Behrouz has been one of our favorite DJ’s for years, and he’s also a great guy, so it’s going to be rocking.
PS: Please note this is not a Shelter party. That is the name of the party that Timmy Regisford runs. We just put Shelter in the topic to give people an idea of where this new space was (since it is in the same building that Shelter used to be in).
