DJ SURV – Having been exposed to the sounds of electronic music since his teenage years, in particular techno and after also digging further into the electronic music genre and growing fond of groups such as Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and New Order, he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a DJ and picked up a pair of Technics turntables a few years back and has never looked back. He recently joined the Astoria DJ Group (A.D.G.) based here in NYC and has been making more appearances in venues throughout the city including Recoup Lounge, UC Lounge, Vig Bar, Nana, Hachi, Tenjune, Marquee, Affaire, the MC and also at various venues on his home island of Malta during the summers of 2010 and 2011 among others. NICK THOMPSON – Nick Thompson (aka Nasty Nick) is generally considered to be a techno/ progressive house DJ, though he does not limit himself to any one genre. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Nick delved into electronic music in the mid 90′s listening to groups like Crystal Method and Rabbit in the Moon. However, the Album that changed everything was Global Underground’s John Digweed (Sydney). After listening to this in 1999 Nick found his calling and began DJ’ing in early 2000. Nick quickly earned a residency at a local Jacksonville nightclub (The Cellar, 2001) where Nick’s dark groovy sounds earned him the “Nasty” tag early on. Since moving to Orlando in 2002, Nasty Nick has had the opportunity to play at shows with internationally renowned talent such as: Paul Oakenfold, Hybrid and Kenneth Thomas. 2010 was a year of change and new opportunity for Nasty Nick as he moved to the house music hub of the United States, New York City. He also went on a three stop mini tour in Russia, where he played an epic five hour set to a packed house at Stena in Leningradskaya followed by a 2 hour afterhours set at Figaro. He wrapped up his trip to Russia by closing down a huge outdoor party on the Don River, rocking till the sun came up. Check out some of his sounds here:

THE HOUSE SPINNERS – – Spinners weave yarn into tapestries. They take one element and create a story. While bleeps and bloops individually are single elements, woven together they create a sonic fabric and a tradition that tells the story of dance. Using a palette that spans almost thirty years collectively, the House Spinners create memorable tapestries of sound. Spinners also predict things to come – using this mode of storytelling to introduce new ideas and thoughts for the tribe. Re-interpreting our past and informing our future is no easy task. It is this mission that makes the House Spinners a unique addition to the electronic dance music scene. Consistently curious, the House Spinners are not afraid to weave boldness with emotion, hot with cold, driven and dropped, minimal and complex. Using the medium of house music, the House Spinners weave a good story – take a listen, it could be yours. Check out some of their sounds on the website below.

FREAKY FIZZLE – Influenced by DJ/Producers such as Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Grant Nelson, Sonny Fodera, and Dennis Ferrer, this Brooklyn-based, Los Angeles-bred DJ has been slowly building steam in 2011 with his unique brand of music, aptly described as “groovin’ soul”. Freaky Fizzle’s signature sound can be best described as soulful dance music with a jackin’ edge. Rooted in House, his sets meticulously interweave funky bass lines, booty shaking beats, and smooth vocals in an effort to drive the dance floor into a frenzy. And given that he can cite musical influences from just about any genre, including Classical, Disco, Hip Hop, Merengue, and R&B, his mixes show a sonic range and stylistic virtuosity that is truly his own. Besides regularly spinning around Manhattan and Brooklyn, Freaky Fizzle hosts his own weekly radio show on Seduction Radio UK. He has also been tapped to provide guest mixes for other programs including the 5 Magazine radio show, the Decks By The Beach podcast, and the 1indienation podcast.

DJ PASSIVE – DJ’ing for over 10 years, this versatile turntablist is finding his way into the NY scene with his eclectic sounds and creativity on the decks. Always ready to surprise his audience, he’s guaranteed to please the most discerning of ears! Since the first time he bum rushed the DJ booth back in 2000 at the Enlisted Club on the Marine Corps base in 29 Palms, Ca, Antonio Cole AKA DJ Passive knew his true calling was behind the decks. His passion for music pushed him to save up his hard earned cash to buy his first pair of decks 5 years later and actively pursue DJ’ing when he got out the Marines. He entered his first competition in 2007 at the 2nd Annual Roc Raida Gong DJ Battle. Taking his experience with him, he later became affiliated with Astoria DJ Group and has started up Champion Sound Drum & Bass Sessions with fellow ADG’er Antonius. DJ Passive has spun at venues such as Public Assembly and Kush and has shared the stage with well known Hip Hop and Drum & Bass DJ’s such as Mista Sinista, Dara, Odi, Paul C, 9X, Art Blakey III, A-Sides, Christian Bruna, and Jayline. Look out for him in future Champion Sound Drum & Bass Sessions and check out some of his sounds here:
