| Famous Park Slope Record Shop To Close Famous Park Slope Record Shop To CloseDum Dum Dum, Another One Bites The Dust... And so it goes, The Record and Tape Center on Fifth Avenue and Ninth in Park Slope will be closing its doors at the end of the moth after a four decade run. The shop, which has been open since the late 60's, received a letter from the landlord that they would not be renewing the lease to the space. Apparently, in a letter recieved by Tony Mignone who owns the shop, stated that they want to use the space for their needs, and that he will have to pack it up by the end of the month. The letter came as a big surprise to Tony, who had not expected this shocker, and furthermore, who only has two weeks to find another location if he wants to stay in business. It's unfortunate but this sad trend of record shops closing continues to occur as shop owners cannot afford to stay in business, or are forced out by larger companies looking to acquire prime real estate.
