| Movement: Detroit Electronic Music Festival May 29-31, 2010 ![]() Though I've never been...this Memorial Day Weekend marks the tenth year of Detroit's Electronic Movement Festival. The line up includes some of the biggest names in the dance music scene, with headliners Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin. Ricardo has boycotted the United States for several years, most notably because of the Bush administration. He did though play a party for U.S. troops in Iraq two years ago, so it appears his boycott was not against the American People, but instead the government at the time. Although we don't have an exact count of the number of paper tickets that have been sold, in previous years, the number has exceeded 50,000, and the number of people who have passed through the Hart Center's doors have gone over 100,000 (with the arena only holding 45,000). Other names that stick out in the line up include:
Don't get us wrong, we love the things that Made Event is doing with the Electric Zoo festival, but we hope that someone will be able to come through with a festival like this that caters more to the techno genre in the next few years. Happy trails to everyone traveling to Detroit this week.
