Defected is on a roll to start 2012. Following an acclaimed brace of releases in ‘Look Right Through’ and 2011’s follow-up ‘It Goes On’, Morgan Geist’s reincarnation as Storm Queen can surely be seen as nothing short of triumphant. Now, we’ve lined up an intimidating selection of artists to present their own interpretations of the debut Storm Queen release.
Dropping 1st February, Part 1 included remixes from Jamie Jones, Dimitri from Paris and Aeroplane. Jamie Jones had a phenomenal 2011, and has started the New Year in similarly explosive fashion, with his bass-heavy remix already receiving a World Exclusive spin on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection. MK – House Masters Review

If you were around dance clubs in the mid 90′s, then you know MK. He was behind some of the biggest tracks and remixes of that decade, including Burning and the awesome remix of India’s “I Can’t Get No Sleep.” Most of these tracks were released on vinyl, but unless you bought the vinyl back then, there is a good chance most copies are not in the best shape these days. Luckily Defected brought MK on to re-release some of his best work in a double compilation entitled “House Masters.”
This review is a bit different than the other reviews we do for the simple fact that this release doesn’t have much new content. All of the material is from years past, but the beauty of it is that you can now have a great sounding copy of some of the biggest bombs of the past 20 years. If you take a look at this track listing, it’s amazing how many great remixes and original tracks Marc released. If you were dancing back then, or are a new DJ looking to get into the old house sounds that have re-emerged from DJ’s like Seth Troxler, then this is a must have. Make sure you pick it up.

Defected is one of the best house music labels both past and present. If you are a DJ, you have no doubt purchased at least one of their releases over the years. Besides releasing music though, Defected works behind the scenes on many other projects to keep things fresh. Their Defected TV series is a great outlet for fans to catch up with their favorite DJ’s and some of the best parties going on around the globe. In this edition, Defected gives us an awesome 18 minute review of the 2011 closing parties in Ibiza and the Amsterdam Dance Event last month. The quality and material of these videos is always great, so we suggest you check it out, and subscribe to their page as they release updated videos on the reg.

Murk has been instrumental in the dance music scene since the early 90′s Tracks like Reach for Me and Some Lovin’ were instant classics on dance floors and are still played to this day. Their productions were a staple in most DJ’s record bags not only in NY, but around the world, where even trance DJ’s like Paul Oakenfold were playing their tracks. Some 25 years later, Ralph Falcon and Oscar G are still performing around the world and producing both as a duo and individually. New York legend MK (which we all know so well from tracks like Burning and some of the amazing remixes he did in the 90′s with MAW) will be releasing a two disc compilation of all of his best tracks and remixes on Defected.
