Dubspot Tutorial – Using Beatgrids In Traktor And Ableton To Mix Disco

If you’ve ever tried to mix Disco before, you know it’s hard as hell.  The reason for this is that disco tracks more often than not used live drummers for the drums and not a computer.  Normal dance music is quantized, so the kick drums always hit at exactly the right moment.  This in turn, makes it easy for the DJ to beatmatch when mixing in and out of tracks.  But when you have non-consistent timing on the kick drums, it makes it very hard (so you should all give props to DJ’s like Nicky Siano, Timmy Regisford, Danny Krivit and the likes).  Dubspot has a tutorial on their blog to help you get those disco mixes sounding flawless.  Check it out by clicking here.
