The Miami New Times received a response from Mansion Miami in regards to why they asked Dennis Ferrer to get off the turntables two weeks ago at the club. Dennis was playing around 1 A.M. when he was asked to stop playing in a post via his Twitter page. The post spread quick around the blogs and before you knew it, it was the topic of the week (sounds sad, but yea, it was all over Twitter and Facebook). In any case, Opium Group, the company that runs the club had this to say: Read more »
Funktion-One Co-Founder Tony Andrews Talks Audio
Tony Andrews is a man who knows his sound. In 1992 he co-founded Funktion-One with John Newsham and since then, their systems are all over the wazoo from Space in Ibiza to Cielo in New York (our favorite system in the city along with Gary Stewarts over at District 36). And though we try not to get into quarells about audio (too much drama), we do like to give credit where it is due and always stay thirsty for knowledge when it comes to sound technology, especially when some of the best in the industry are teaching. Timeout London Does Voguing
Kate Hutchinson of Time Out London has a great article about voguing just in time for the release of the new book and CD release “Voguing and The House Ballroom Scene Of New York City” which was released on Soul Jazz records. The book has great high detail pictures of ballroom shows with the houses of the early 90′s in New York along with a separate 3 CD compilation with a mix by Junior Vasquez (including Body Drill – Body Drill, a Sound Factory anthem and one of our favorites of all times). Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy To Premier In London
Irvine Welsh is no stranger to playing way out in left field when it comes to writing novels. You see, Irvine wrote a book some of you may remember from the early 90′s entitled Trainspotting. Fast forward a few years later (96 to be exact), and Irvine released three more titles in a series called “Ecstasy, Three Tales Of Chemical Romance.” The three stories are as follows: Read more »

Fabric Talks To Visionquest
Great interview of Seth Troxler and Lee Curtis by the folks over at Fabric this week. Excerpt:
How far do you think you can coast by on good looks and charm?
Great question! When I look in the mirror I say wow, it’s all over, but then I look at you Lee and realize I’ve got loads of time…What are two things a dude should never say to another dude?
How does my lipstick look, and, can you shave my back… though Lee you’re guilty of that second one.Do you believe you could inflate a dog with helium and float him on the end of a string?
I love animals so I would never think of doing such a thing. I do however reckon I could easily fill up a hot air ballon with bullshit and fly it to the moon.Should DJs have a salary caps like baseball players?
I think DJs should be grateful for the blessings that they have been granted and give back in different ways.

Moby Picks His Favorite Early House Records
Moby made a post on his Facebook account today about a YouTube playlist he created of some of his favorite classic house tracks. People like RJJNY have made YouTube a treasure for finding old dance records that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere except maybe Discogs (and even then, you don’t have the ability to play them there to know what records they were in the first place). Check out some of the gems Moby chose as his favorite. Read more »
